London isn't afraid! We're all London!

A detachment of Islamic State fighters executed yesterday’s London attack

“It is an ideology that is a perversion of Islam and a perversion of the truth,” she said. “Defeating this ideology is one of the great challenges of our time. But it cannot be defeated through military intervention alone.”

As terrorism breeds terrorism and perpetrators are inspired to attack, not only on the basis of carefully constructed plots after years of planning and training, and not even as lone attackers radicalised online, but by copying one another and often using the crudest of means of attack.

(It is time to say enough is enough)。

First, people who are drawn to Islamist extremism must be persuaded that western values are superior.

一是,参与伊斯兰极端主义的人必须得到劝说,要让他们相信西方价值观是更为优越的;

Second, there must be a clampdown on the “safe spaces” on the internet where terrorism breeds.

二是必须清洗滋生恐怖主义的网络,还网络一片“净土”;

Third, she called for action at home where extremism may be tolerated. “While we have made significant progress in recent years, there is – to be frank – far too much tolerance of extremism in our country,” she said.

Finally, she proposed a review of counter-terrorism strategy and laws, and suggested longer sentences for some offences.

“It was swerving from side to side and I could see it hitting people and there was a group about 20 or 30 yards in front of me. The van hit those people. At that moment I was doing that calculation of trying to work out which direction should I run.”

“Suddenly on the left-hand side, on the bridge, there was somebody down on the pavement with a small crowd around them, clearly concerned. I thought someone had collapsed. We drove a little further over the bridge. There was another person in the road itself. The penny dropped that something quite serious was happening.

“The traffic came to a standstill. The Uber driver said something bad is happening here. We could hear sirens coming.

“A driver of a black cab said there has been a terrorist attack. They saw there were numerous people in the road. A second cab driver said there has been a series of stabbings.”

Three men jumped out of the van and that’s when they started attacking people on the road. As they headed down the stairs, as they were running towards the people, they were shouting, ‘This is for Allah’.

I saw a man in red with quite a large blade, I don’t know the measurement – I guess maybe 10 inches. He was stabbing a man … he stabbed him about three times fairly calmly.

It looked [like] the man had maybe been trying to intervene but there wasn’t much that he could do, he was being stabbed quite coldly and he slumped to the ground.

The attacker and another man walked off quite “boldly”.

A table was thrown, a bottle was thrown at the individual with the knife and then we heard three gunshots and we ran

有一些人用##prayersforLondon话题,并贴出 “伦敦桥永不落”("London Bridge will never fall down")和“我爱伦敦”( "I love London")的口号。

Terrorist attacks in the heart of London leave 6 dead in a nation still reeling的文章的反应。

Keep Calm and Carry On!

Terrorist attacks in the heart of London leave 6 dead in a nation still reeling的文章称两周之内成为恐袭的目标,让英国现在仍处在“晕头转向”的状态。

《卫报》记者Olivia Solon发推说道: "People who stand stand to the left on the Tube escalator."

Kate Devlin发推道: "A pause longer than four seconds on Radio 4."(在BBC Radio 4中间隔超过四秒钟)

Charles Rothwell

"We are going into London today with the kids. I want to say "I am not afraid", but having to explain this to my kids? My stomach hurts."

"London gives an opportunity to everyone. It doesn't matter where you come from. It will always be open. LONDON IS NOT AFRAID. We are London."
